Description
Frankincense resin is produced from cuts from the bark of the tree. When the resin tears harden, they are removed and then steam distilled. A Biblical oil, frankincense is produced in the Middle East and Eastern tip of Africa. Overharvesting is a problem, as many people have “discovered” the many benefits of this amazing oil.
One note worth mentioning is the fallacy that ingestion of frankincense essential oil cures cancer. Here’s the scoop: boswellic acid is the active ingredient that has been shown to be anti-tumerol. There is no boswellic acid in the essential oil of frankincense.
Frankincense essential oil is excellent for respiratory issues and promotes deep breathing, calm and promotes a meditative state. It is also good for wound healing.
